Ten Words is a book about big ideas, small words and short sentences. It’s a collection of interesting stories from one hundred and forty characters from all walks of life. Ten Words features some of the worlds most influential people who have featured in my presentations, including Dale Carnegie, Aaron Sorkin, Tony Robbins, Seth Godin, Marie Curie, W. Edwards Deming, Kevin Spacey, Tom Ford, Lady Gaga, Vivienne Westwood and Marilyn Monroe.
In the book I examine the ten word quotes and mantras which have shaped their lives and their industries, and look behind the scenes at what made each quote (and each person) so special.
Ten Words is written for people with short attention spans who like to tell stories in swipes. Each story can be read in 75 seconds and offers advice on what to read, watch and who to follow to inspire you even more.
If you’ve got a REALLY short attention span, here’s the entire book in 60 seconds. (Ironically it’s a really big GIF so may take a while to load).
I wrote the book as a challenge in 100 days and recorded my progress by posting one photo each day on Instagram.
100% of the profits for Ten Words are going to the NHS to pay for two Giraffe incubators, like the ones my twins Petra and Mathilda were in for a couple of months when they were born and needed heart surgery. For this reason I have chosen to self-publish rather than go through a traditional publishing house (because the profit margins are higher). But I promise that the £20 retail price + shipping is worth it, as the price also reflects the quality of the print, binding and luxury cotton paper stock. It’s a good looking book with a good purpose.
I didn’t want the book to be just about technology people and entrepreneurs. Neither did I want to only showcase all the usual suspects such as Jobs, Branson, Edison, Kalanick, Spiegel and Zuckerberg. Here’s all 140 “characters” (pun intended) who feature in ten words. Ten Words also showcases many fascinating people such as Cedric Villani, P.T. Barnum, Terry Wogan, Ada Lovelace, Miles Davis, Audrey Hepburn, Jerry Seinfeld, Joel Osteen, Dita Von Teese, Orson Welles, Mae West, Josiah Wedgwood and Yuja Wang.
It was a fun project and showcases some really great people. Some you will know. Many you probably won’t. I hope you manage to get your paws on a copy and enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
